Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The Chevrolet Colorado performs well in government crash tests.

The Colorado earns four out of five stars for rollover resistance. The regular and extended cab models get four out of five stars for both driver and front passenger protection in front impact tests, while crew cab models earn five out of five. All models earn four out of five stars for front seat occupant protection in side impact crashes. The crew cab gets five out of five stars for rear seat passenger protection in side impact crashes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it a rating of "Good," the best possible, in frontal impacts.

  • "GM has improved the Colorado's safety credentials by adding standard side curtain airbags. Stability and traction control are also standard. GM's electronic stability system uses electronic brake controls to help the driver maintain control of the vehicle in certain situations." -- Cars.com
