Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Neither the federal government nor insurance industry has crash tested the 2010 Corvette. At this price point, few cars are. It does, however, come equipped with loads of active and passive safety features -- including dual-stage front airbags. Though most critics appreciate its modern safety equipment, some complain of hampered rearward visibility.

  • "All-speed traction control, which actively aids handling and stability, and four-wheel disc antilock brakes are welcome standard safety measures to help tame any unruly behavior. Run-flat tires allow a driver with a flat to keep going at a reduced speed to find a safe place to pull off the road, or if they're lucky, to reach a facility where the tire and/or wheel can be fixed, or more likely, replaced." -- Forbes
  • Don't look for a spare tire because the Corvette has run-flat tires." -- Chicago Sun-Times
  • "A head-up display projects the speedometer and tachometer readings on the windshield so the driver can see vital information without taking his eyes off the road." -- Kansas City Star
  • "Thick roof pillars hamper visibility to all corners. Several test models had annoying distortions from the rear window." -- Consumer Guide
