Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government awards the Equinox top scores of five stars for both driver and passenger safety in frontal crash tests. The SUV receives four stars for front- and rear-seat safety in side crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highlway Safety gives the 2009 Equinox a top score of "Good" in frontal offset tests. A major plus in the safety department is the Equinox's three standard LATCH devices (Lower Anchors and Top tethers for CHildren) in the rear seat -- meaning it can accommodate three child safety seats at the same time.
