2014 Chevrolet Equinox Video Transcript
Auto journalists agree that the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox has an attractive interior with comfortable seating, but how is it out on the road? Hi! I am Jim Sharifi, Senior Editor with U.S. News Best Cars. In this video we will take a closer look at the Equinox's performance.
A 182 horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the Chevy Equinox, an optional 3.6-liter V6 produces 301 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard and all-wheel drive is optional. The EPA reports that the base Equinox gets 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway, which is good for an Affordable Compact SUV. Most auto reviewers think that the 4-cylinder engine feels underpowered; however they say that the V6 offers great acceleration. They also note that the 6-speed automatic transmission shifts quickly and performs well with either engine.
Critics say the Equinox has a comfortable ride, but they also comment that a soft suspension and vague steering mean that it isn't the most agile SUV in its class. However, several mention that the brakes provide smooth stopping power.
