Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The insurance industry hasn't tested the 2010 HHR yet but gives the HHR its top score, "Good," in frontal-impact crash testing.  However, the Institute gave the HHR a lower score, "Acceptable," in side-impact testing -- even with side airbags.

In federal government crash tests, the 2010 HHR earned five-star scores all around in front and side impact crash tests. The HHR earned a four-star rollover rating.

The HHR comes standard with anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control.  Front airbags are standard, as are side-curtain airbags in the front and back seats.  OnStar automatic crash response, which can contact emergency authorities when it senses a crash, is standard.  However, after the first year of ownership, there is a subscription fee for the service.
