The 2008 Malibu is well equipped for safety, and does very well in government and insurance industry crash tests. In federal government crash tests, the Malibu earned earns five out of five stars for both frontal offset and side impact tests, and receives a four-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2008 Malibu a "Good" rating, the highest possible, in frontal offset crash tests.
