2007 Chevrolet Suburban Review
The Suburban delivers excellent ride and handling for its size, improved fuel economy and a comfortable, spacious interior.
The 2007 Chevrolet Suburban has been redesigned from the ground up with what most reviewers agree are positive results. AutoWeek says, "GM sweated the details this time around, and the new Suburban is a vast improvement over the outgoing model. Like a nice new home in suburbia, we are pleasantly surprised with our Suburban's high level of refinement and the extra room inside that we've come to expect from a big SUV." The Chicago Tribune says, "If you have a large family, haul lots of things and/or tow, Suburban is the vehicle of choice for its three rows of seats, spacious cargo hold and sufficiently muscular V-8." Motor Trend places the Ford Expedition EL ahead of the Suburban in head-to-head tests, but still calls the 2007 Suburban "more desirable and more formidable than ever."
The Chevrolet Suburban may cost a few thousand dollars more than competitor Ford Expedition, but it still makes Consumer Guide's "Best Buy" list. AutoWeek reports, "To the Suburban's $40,540 base price we added enough options to ratchet the price up to $53,425. At first glance, it appears worth it." Kelley Blue Book adds, "In terms of resale value, Suburban 1500s with two-wheel drive are expected to retain 31 percent of their original value over a 60-month period, while four-wheel-drive models should retain 33 percent. That's better than Ford Expedition." IntelliChoice gives the 2007 Suburban a value rating of "average" for its predicted five-year total cost of ownership, compared to other vehicles in its class.
