Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Chevy Suburban is at the top of the class for exterior styling. AutoWeek says that since the 2007 redesign, the suburban "looks better, with crisper, sleeker sheetmetal."

The 2007 model of the Chevrolet Suburban was redesigned, though not dramatically. "You're going to recognize the new Suburban," writes a reviewer for About.com. "It looks a lot like the old Suburban, only better and more sophisticated." With a new grill, and sleeker design, the reviewers were impressed with the truck's aerodynamic look. Kelley Blue Book says "At 222.4 inches overall on a 130-inch wheel base, the Suburban is undeniably a biggie." But, the reviewer adds, "Improved aerodynamics are credited to a more sleekly-angled windshield and tighter body-gap tolerances, while a bulging power-dome hood adds to visceral appeal."

Reviewers praised optional exterior features including the power-operated running boards and remote powered back lift gate on some models. The retractable running boards, available only with the highest trim level, says Kelley Blue Book, "might tap you in the shin if you're standing too close, but the Suburban's optional power running boards are wide enough to really help passengers who might have trouble climbing aboard" Autobytel is impressed with "the optional power tailgate, a nice feature especially for shorter people who might not be able to reach to pull the tailgate closed."
