The 2010 Chevrolet Suburban earns excellent scores in government crash tests. The Suburban earned five out of five stars for both driver and front passenger protection in frontal crashes, and five stars in front seat and backseat occupant protection in side crashes. 

Both the rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban scored three out of five on rollover tests done by the federal government, which is average for an SUV, though reviewers note that the Suburban comes with a standard stability control system to lessen the likelihood of a rollover. Side-curtain airbags are standard for all rows of seats.
