Used Car: 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Review
The 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient 2010 large SUVs. It’s also capable of carrying the entire family and towing heavy trailers, which other hybrids don’t do very well.
When it was new, reviewers commented that the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid did a good job of performing regular SUV duties while using a bit less fuel. At 21/22 mpg city/highway, the Tahoe Hybrid’s fuel economy ratings don’t match other hybrid SUVs’, but those vehicles aren’t designed to do things like tow up to 6,200 pounds or carry up to eight people.
The Tahoe Hybrid is powered by a 6.0-liter V8 and a pair of electric motors and has either rear- or four-wheel drive. Some reviewers mentioned that the Tahoe Hybrid felt sluggish in electric-only mode, but performance improves when the gas engine kicks in. Like the gas-only 2010 Tahoe, reviewers disliked that the Tahoe Hybrid’s third row must be removed to maximize cargo capacity. But once the rear seats are removed and the second row is folded, the Tahoe Hybrid can carry up to 108.9 cubic feet of cargo.
The Tahoe Hybrid’s many standard features include leather upholstery, a Bose stereo system with navigation and satellite radio, Bluetooth, a USB port and tri-zone automatic climate control. The 2010 Tahoe Hybrid is quite similar to the 2008 model, so you might be able to save some money by buying an older model.
Other Cars to Consider
If you’re looking at the Tahoe Hybrid, you should also look at its corporate cousin, the 2010 GMC Yukon Hybrid. The two are similar, with the same capabilities and fuel economy estimates, though reviewers favored the performance of the Yukon Hybrid and the interior of the Tahoe Hybrid. If you have your heart set on a large hybrid SUV, shop for both models to find the one that is best for you.
Another SUV you should consider is the 2010 Toyota Sequoia. While it doesn’t have the Tahoe Hybrid’s fuel economy ratings, reviewers liked the Sequoia’s powerful engine lineup and well-made interior. Its good passenger and towing capacity, all-around quality and solid reliability score make the Sequoia among the highest-ranked 2010 large SUVs.
