Chevrolet Tahoe - Overview
Since its introduction in 1994, the Tahoe has been a popular SUV because of its seating capacity, ability to handle rough terrain and large towing capacity. In the face of rising gas prices, it remains to be seen if the Tahoe will remain the go-to vehicle for rugged American families. The Tahoe shares its platform with the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. It is also very similar to the Chevrolet Suburban, which is essentially a long-wheelbase Tahoe.
The Tahoe was last updated in 2007. The redesign addressed complaints about the poor quality materials in the cabin and the Tahoe's slab-sided appearance. With seating for up to eight and a comfortable ride, the Tahoe is a capable family hauler. In 2008 Chevrolet introduced a Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. Consider the Tahoe if you frequently carry a lot of people, tow heavy loads, or encounter rough terrain. Look elsewhere is you want sharp handling or good fuel economy.
