Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government gives the 2009 TrailBlazer three out of five stars for driver safety and four stars for passenger safety in frontal crash tests -- scores that pale in comparison to the top ratings of many SUVs. In side crash tests, the TrailBlazer redeems itself with top five-star scores for front- and rear-seat safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the TrailBlazer sub-par scores of "Acceptable" and "Marginal" in frontal offset and side impact tests, respectively.

  • "Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags." -- Consumer Guide
  • "All TrailBlazer models come with OnStar 8.0 (with one year of Safe & Sound service). The service includes advanced crash response." -- Cars.com
  • "For added safety, GM's StabiliTrack electronic stability control system is now standard on all TrailBlazer models. This system uses a full range of motion and control sensors, coupled to actuators on the throttle and individual wheel brakes to sense and mitigate any unintended changes in vehicle direction." -- New Car Test Drive
