Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser has driver and passenger frontal air bags, but additional air bags as well as anti-lock brakes are extra-cost options. The Cruiser receives good but not perfect ratings in government crash tests.

In government crash tests, the 2007 PT Cruiser receives four out of five stars in frontal crash tests for both driver and front passenger protection. With the optional side air bags, the 2008 Cruiser receives four out of five stars for front seat occupant protection in side crash tests and five out of five stars for rear seat passenger protection in side crash tests.

Accident Avoidance

There are almost no accident avoidance features on the base model PT Cruiser. Anti-lock brakes are optional.

Crash Protection

The PT Cruiser has multistage frontal air bags for the driver and front-seat passenger. Side curtain and front seat-mounted side air bags are all standard. Head air bags and child safety seats are not available.
