Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Sedan versions of the Sebring earn five out of five stars in nearly every federal government safety test, but four of five for protecting rear seat passengers in side-impact accidents. Convertible models received five stars in that test, but just four for protecting the driver in a frontal-impact crash. The Sebring has been named a "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, earning top scores in the institute's front- and side-impact tests.

The car does offer front, side and head-curtain airbags as standard equipment. New for 2010, it also features active head restraints for the front seats, designed to reduce the risk of whiplash. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes are now standard across the Sebring lineup. A few writers have expressed visibility concerns.

  •  -"Thick A-pillars that strengthen the windshield for improved occupant protection in the event of a rollover can block sight of cross traffic at intersections and when exiting a driveway or parking lot." -- New Car Test Drive
