Used Car: 2010 Dodge Caliber Review
The 2010 Dodge Caliber has a comfortable interior, plenty of space for cargo and good safety scores, but its low fuel economy and sluggish performance won’t please all shoppers.
The 2010 Dodge Caliber is ranked:
Reviewers liked the 2010 Dodge Caliber’s comfortable seats and expansive cargo area. In addition to being spacious, the Caliber has good safety scores and more standard features than other 2010 small cars. Higher trims have uncommon features for the class, such as a cooler and an upgraded stereo. On the downside, reviewers felt the interior quality to be lacking compared to other cars in the class.
Two inline four-cylinder engines are available on the 2010 Dodge Caliber. Lower trims get a 2.0-liter engine, while a more powerful 2.4-liter engine comes with higher trims. Although both engines offer plenty of horsepower for the class, most test drivers thought the Caliber was sluggish. Neither engine is particularly fuel-efficient, either. Models with the 2.0-liter engine get up to 23/31 mpg city/highway.
Other Cars to Consider
When it was new, reviewers said that the boxy 2010 Kia Soul offered better performance, but it also has better safety scores and more standard interior features. The Soul doesn’t have as much interior space as the Caliber, but its front and rear seats are comfortable, and cargo space is good for the class. Both the Soul and the Caliber earn similar reliability scores.
The highly-ranked 2010 Hyundai Elantra sedan has good passenger space and a large trunk, which means that just like the Caliber, it has plenty of room for families. However, the Elantra surpasses the Caliber with better fuel economy ratings and better handling. The Elantra also has an above-average reliability score, so you it may cost you less in repairs than the Caliber. The Elantra was named the 2010 Best Compact Car for the Money when it was new.
