Used Car: 2011 Dodge Challenger Review

Review Last Updated: 4/22/13

The 2011 Dodge Challenger has one of the largest and most comfortable cabins in the class, but other sports cars have better performance.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger is ranked:

The 2011 Dodge Challenger has a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 305 horsepower. The R/T model has a 5.7-liter V8 that produces up to 376 horsepower. Challenger SRT8 models have a 470-horsepower 6.4-liter V8 engine. An automatic transmission is standard on all trims. A six-speed manual is available on the R/T and SRT8 models but was not offered with the V6 engine. The Challenger gets up to 18/27 mpg city/highway, which is average for its class. Test drivers liked the powerful base engine. However, they recommended the R/T model because of its smooth-shifting manual transmission and capable V8 engine. While test drivers said the steering is accurate, one reviewer thought it has too much power assist. They thought the 2011 Challenger is an improvement over the 2010 model, thanks to revised suspension and braking systems.

Reviewers said the Challenger’s interior isn’t as attractive as it should be. However, the Challenger offers one of the roomiest cabins in the class, and it’s the only car in the class that can seat five people. Reviewers complained that the Challenger’s gauges are hard to read, and that the available navigation system is complex. The Challenger has one of the largest trunks in the class, with 16.2 cubic feet of space. The Dodge Challenger comes standard with keyless entry, full power accessories, cruise control, automatic climate control, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player. Available features on the 2011 Challenger include Bluetooth, satellite radio, an iPod interface, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a navigation system and a 13-speaker Kicker surround-sound audio system.
