Reliability

The 2010 Dodge Journey reliability score of 5.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

The Journey comes with a lifetime powertrain warranty and a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty. Note that in the Journey's short time on the market, Dodge has issued several recalls (two for the electrical system, one for the powertrain and one for the electrical system that deploys the frontal airbags).

The most recent recall, issued on April 9, 2009, affects 4,134 Chrysler vehicles (including the 2009 Journey). According to the recall notice, "Wiring may be reversed on the steering column control module driver airbag squib connector." In the event of a crash, the driver's airbag may not deploy as intended, "and may not be able to properly protect an occupant, increasing the risk of injuries."
