Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The Journey features plenty of safety equipment and has excellent safety scores to prove the equipment works. In federal government tests, it earns top scores of five stars for driver and passenger safety in frontal crashes and for front- and rear-seat safety in side crashes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the Journey top scores of "Good" in front, side, rear crash protection and roof strength tests. Its good performance plus standard electronic stability control earn it a "Top Safety Pick" designation.

  • "Journey comes with all the safety features expected in a newly designed vehicle. Standard safety features include: front side airbags, curtain airbags that cover all seating rows, antilock brakes, an antiskid system, and traction control." --Consumer Guide
  • "The driver faces a large windshield, but thick windshield posts partly obstruct vision. So do rear roof pillars, although rear glass on the hatch's lower edge follows the curvature of the taillights to improve visibility through the back window." -- Chicago Sun-Times
  • "Optional ParkView Rear Camera makes backing up easier and trailer sway control makes towing less stressful." -- Road & Travel Magazine
  • "ABS is standard, as are stability control, and front, side and curtain airbags. It's a family vehicle; safety was an important design goal." -- Road and Track
  • "A rearview camera and hands-free communication system are optional, as are very handy built-in second-row child booster seats, a first in this segment." -- Edmunds
