Dodge redesigned the Ram 1500 in 2009, adding a better driving experience and more amenities.  For 2010, the heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 models get the same treatment.

PickupTrucks.com explains, "The update isn't quite as comprehensive as the Ram 1500's makeover, though you'd never know it just from looking at the trucks. Almost everything above the heavy-duty Ram's frame is brand new, including its aerodynamic exterior and all-new interior, which is shared with the Ram 1500." While few reviewers have driven the new heavy-duty Ram yet, if the changes are executed as well as they were on the Ram 1500, most should be pleased.

The Ram Heavy Duty is available in 2500 and 3500 models.  Buyers can chose from regular, crew and mega cab configurations, as well as a six-foot, four-inch box or an eight foot box.  Two and four-wheel drive are available, as is a regular wheel configuration or a dual rear wheel setup. Towing and payload capacities are beefy, with the Ram 3500 topping out with an 18,500 pound towing capacity and a payload capacity of 5,110 pounds.

Of course, to move all that cargo the Ram Heavy Duty has two powerful engines available. There's a 6.7 liter Cummins turbo diesel engine with 350 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The standard engine is a 5.7 liter HEMI V8 that makes 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission comes with the HEMI, while buyers who select the diesel can choose between a six-speed manual transmission with a low first gear ratio that makes it an excellent choice for towing, or a six-speed automatic transmission.
