Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Dodge Viper has not been crash tested by the federal government or insurance industry.

Accident Avoidance

The Viper comes with an anti-lock brake system (ABS) with Brake Assist and speed-sensitive power locks. The lack of traction control or electronic stability control is mentioned as a negative in many reviews, though the Viper's excellent road grip partially makes up for that shortcoming.

Crash Protection

The Viper comes standard with advanced multistage front air bags and knee bolsters -- all the safety equipment it conceivably needs for its two-passenger capacity. For 2008, the air bags get a new sensing system that adjusts the deployment of the bags based on an occupant's weight.
