The Ford Crown Victoria carries a legacy of durability and reliability and has been a longtime cost-effective standard for taxi cab companies and police departments. Edmunds says that "unlike its modern competition, the Crown Victoria uses body-on-frame construction, and although this does the car no favors in the ride and handling department, it's both durable and cost-effective -- that's why taxicab companies and police departments like it." Kelley Blue Book reports that the "Crown Vic's near-legendary durability should not be discounted, and it can be verified by literally millions of miles of extremely severe service with police agencies and taxi cab fleets."

Automobile Magazine notes the positive, stating that taxi companies have been long dedicated to the Ford Crown Victoria for its "affordability, interior space, durability - and also because the car has been in production for so long that its dedicated repair shops have mastered the maintenance and parts are relatively cheap."
