Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The Escape features plenty of safety equipment and has excellent safety scores to back it up. In federal government tests, the 2010 model earns top scores of five stars for driver and passenger safety in frontal crashes and for front- and rear-seat safety in side crashes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2009 model top scores of "Good" in both frontal offset and side impact tests and designated it as a "Top Safety Pick."

For 2010, Ford has added five new safety-related features: an integrated blind spot mirror for better blind spot visibility, a MyKey programmable vehicle key, a rearview camera system, Active Park Assist for parallel parking help, and an updated SYNC system with traffic information.

  • "In addition to the Safety Canopy side-impact and curtain airbags, the Escape now features an electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control." -- Cars.com
