Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Reviewers are pleased with the safety features on the 2010 Ford F-150.  With the 2009 redesign, Ford made many safety features standard, including stability control with rollover resistance. In federal government crash tests, the F-150 earned five out of five stars for driver and passenger protection in frontal and side impact tests.  Two-wheel drive F-150s have a four-star rollover rating, while four-wheel drive F-150s have a three-star rollover rating. For 2010, Ford's MyKey system is standard on all but the base XL model.  The system uses a programmable key that allows parents to limit the truck's speed and stereo volume. The system also makes it impossible to turn off the F-150's traction control.  Each driver's key can be programmed within chosen limits, and when that key is used to start the truck, the F-150 won't surpass those settings.

  • "Late to the active-safety party, stability control with rollover mitigation is now standard." -- Car and Driver
  • "Ford did not skimp on safety features either. The new F-150 includes electronic stability control, trailer sway control, anti-lock brakes, front and side airbags for front passengers and side curtain airbags for both rows. More importantly, all of the safety features on the new F-150 are standard, whether you buy an XL or a fully loaded Platinum model. Safety items should never be optional." -- Detroit News
