Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Neither the federal government nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released any crash test results for the 2010 Ford Fusion.  The 2009 model did very well in testing performed by both agencies, and was named an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety "Top Safety Pick" when purchased with stability control.

The Fusion comes standard with driver and passenger side front- and front-side airbags, as well as full-length head-curtain airbags. Stability control, once an added-cost option, is now standard on all trim levels. A new blind-sport alert system is offered, which also assists the driver with backing out of parking spaces.

  • "The big improvement on the safety front versus the old Fusion is the inclusion of electronic stability control standard on even the base model. The system, along with standard four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, adds a tremendous amount of control to the vehicle." -- Cars.com
  • "Available Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert detects moving objects within 65 feet of either side of the vehicle; provides early warning when, say, pulling blindly out of a parking space." -- Motor Trend
