Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
For 2010, the Ford Mustang's exterior design receives a significant refresh that makes it look more compact and aggressive. Reviewers, on balance, are impressed.
The Mustang is available as a coupe and soft-top convertible. What's more, a fixed glass roof panel is optional for coupes.
- "[T]he 2010 Mustang receives nothing more than a comprehensive face-lift in preparation for archrival Camaro's appearance. The freshly restyled outer shell makes the new Mustang look more compact and taut than last year's car, but it's actually half an inch longer." -- Automobile Magazine
- "Outside, the new model is plainly a face lift rather than an all-new design, bearing a closer resemblance to the '69 Stang than the current car. The four-light grille-the inner two are actually large fog lights-and the kicked-up rear fender lines come straight from the '69 car. Otherwise, the sheetmetal is beveled at both ends, and there's a pronounced hood bulge-the new model looks both more muscular and a bit smaller than the current one, which in some ways seems like a cleaner and more coherent design." -- Car and Driver
- "The new front end looks more powerful and more athletic than the previous generation. The power dome pushes up, and the gap between the body-colored bumper and the hood pinches the head lights and gives the coupe a more determined look. ... All models tout the Mustang's new pony on the grille. It's bigger, and it's meaner looking." -- -- Detroit News
- "The Mustang's exterior has been cleaned up, shaved off or honed like a hot-rodder would do, not the factory. But it wasn't just for looks. Some of that work has gone into aerodynamic improvements that help in a 7-percent efficiency gain over the previous GT, even though the drivetrain hasn't changed much." -- Road and Track
- "We still think it looks great and embodies what a Mustang should be with its long hood, short deck proportion, forward leaning grille and deeply set headlights." -- Autoblog
- "Overall, the finished product looks lower, leaner and meaner than its predecessor." -- AutoWeek
