GMC Sierra Heavy-Duty

Overall Score - 8.5 (Very Good)

The 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 HD are heavy duty pickup trucks.  The 2500 can be configured with a regular, extended or crew cab, while the 3500 is only available as an extended or crew cab. The 2500 and 3500 each come standard with a 6.0-liter V8 engine that makes 353 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque. A 6.6-liter V8 diesel engine is optional on both the 2500 and 3500, and makes 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque. Depending on their cab configuration, the 2500 and 3500 can hold up to six people. The 2500 is available with either a 6.5 foot standard cargo box or an 8 foot long box; the 3500 is only available with the 8 foot bed. Properly configured, the 2500 and 3500 HD can tow 13,000 pounds. The Sierra 3500 HD can haul up to 11,400 pounds when properly equipped, while the 2500 can haul 9,200 pounds. Both are available in either two- or four-wheel drive.

New for 2008

For 2008 the GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 HD add standard XM satellite radio, two new exterior colors, and a power adjustable drivers seat on regular cab models with a bench seat. High gas prices have truck sales in a free fall.  That means you might be able to get a good deal on the Sierra HD--but keep in mind that once you have it, it can be very expensive to keep fueled.
