Reviewers give high marks to the 2014 GMC Terrain for its upscale interior, but what's it like to drive? Hi! I am Jim Sharifi with U.S. News Best Cars. In this video we'll take a closer look at the Terrains performance.
The GMC Terrain comes standard with a 2.4 liter; 4-cylinder engine that puts out 182 HP, an optional 3.6 liter V6 engine generates 301 HP. A six speed automatic transmission is standard and the base Terrain with front wheel drive gets an EPA estimated 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway, which is good for the class.
Reviewers say the terrains base engine struggles to get adequate power for passing and merging, well the available V6 carries out these tasks effortlessly. As a result most test drivers agree that V6's boost in power and performance is well worth the slightly lower fuel economy estimates.
Professional auto critics report the GMC Terrain has a remarkably smooth and quiet ride, but most are displeased with the Terrains handling, they say it's not particularly agile and that there's somebody lean during quick cornering. Others disagree, saying that Terrain is relatively sporty and maneuvers like a midsize car.
