Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The federal government gives the all-new Terrain top five-star scores in frontal and side crash tests. The insurance industry gives it top scores of "Good" in frontal offset, side impact and rear crash protection tests.
The Terrain boasts many safety features that are impressive for its affordable price. These include dual-stage frontal airbags, thorax side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger airbags, and head curtain side-impact airbags. Other standard features are anti-lock brakes, one year of Onstar service and a StabiliTrak stability control system with traction control. The Terrain even comes with a standard Rear Vision camera on base models -- a very rare offering within its class. Rear Parking Assist, available on SLT models only, comes with a rearview LED display and audible alarm.
- "A rearview camera is standard equipment. With the optional navigation system, the back-up camera shows up in that display; otherwise it appears on the left portion of the inside rearview mirror. We found the latter actually more natural to use, though the picture is smaller." -- Edmunds
