Harman Kardon GPS
You're not on the wrong page. Though the brainchild company of Dr. Sidney Harman and Bernard Kardon is best known for its home and car stereo equipment, it also makes premium GPS devices for the car -- married to premium audio and video capabilities. But some reviewers warn that Harman Kardon GPS are best for drivers interested in the integration, not the execution, of a GPS unit with a media player. Other GPS systems with just-as-good or better features might be a stronger value for you.
As of this writing, Harman Kardon makes three Guide + Play units (fancy talk for GPS). The lower-end 310 has text-to-speech capability and a four-inch screen, but limits itself to FM transmission or digital music files. The slightly more expensive 510 model has a larger screen (4.3 on the diagonal as opposed to an even four inches) and includes video support as well as built-in traffic functions. Lastly, the Harman Kardon Guide + Play 810 is one of the pricier GPS devices sold in the U.S., featuring video and music capabilities, Bluetooth, and a whopping 12 million points of interest.
