Mio GPS

Chances are you've heard of a Garmin GPS, maybe even a TomTom or a Magellan. But Mio GPS devices might have slipped your notice. They shouldn't -- since 2002 the Taiwanese manufacturer has been offering outstanding personal navigation devices for value prices that it normally takes its competition two or three price cuts to get to.

For some time, Mio Digiwalkers were the more prominent devices. Inexpensive units like Mio Digiwalker C220 or the Digiwalker C230 are great at routing and perfect for the driver who doesn't need GPS extras like media players or voice activation. The newer Mio Moovs continue with the family trend of simple and easy use and precision. Most recently, Mio made headlines for offering the device every GPS nut has secretly been waiting for -- the Knight Rider GPS, with the trademark read LED lights and the actual voice of KITT guiding you around town.

Mio continues to increase its relevancy in the GPS industry. In a surprise coup, Mio's parent company MiTAC International Corporation has purchased the navigation giant Magellan GPS. The deal should be finalized 2009, with both the fate of Magellan and Mio products in limbo for the next few months.

The Mio Moov 310 gets a mixed response from reviewers. On one hand, they like that its MSRP is easy on the wallet, but on the other hand, they feel there is better performance to be had among inexpensive GPS devices.
