Garmin nuvi 660 Overall

The Garmin nuvi 660 is appreciated for excelling at the basics of portable navigation -- accurate directions, text-to-speech quality and a clear visual display -- as well as offering fun and functional add-ons.

Looked at as a pioneer when it was released, the nuvi 660 gas garnered a lot of praise. GPS Magazine awarded it as their Editor's Choice for 2006 and PC Magazine deemed it an Editors' Choice.

Even after discontinuation, prices for the nuvi 660 start at $250. Also be sure to check out newer models in the Garmin lineup, including the nuvi 785T (which features lane assist) and the nuvi 880 (which has voice navigation).

Reviewers are impressed with the nuvi 660's accuracy. On a test drive, CNET says the nuvi 660 "performed wonderfully. The unit impressed us by acquiring a satellite fix in less than a minute, and subsequent starts were much faster." And GPS Tracklog says the nuvi 660 "did an excellent job of routing, with no major hiccups along the way."

Like most Garmins, the nuvi 660 is easy to use. GPS Tracklog says the nuvi 660 has a "user-friendly design and intuitive interface." GPS Magazine likes the compact design and says the "[b]eautiful, super-bright, white backlit screen is easy to read even in sunlight."

CNET says the nuvi 660 "keeps many of the same features that we loved in its predecessor and adds some new tricks as well."
