Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
For 2009, Honda made slight changes to all the Civics' front grille and bumper and changed the colors of the headlights. To reviewers, the end result is still in keeping with the sleek lines of the most recent generation.
- "Apparently most hybrid buyers need to make sure the neighbors know, because Prius outsold Civic hybrid 5-to-1 last year. The 2009 Civic hybrid shares minor cosmetic and interior trim changes that Honda made to the entire Civic lineup for '09. From the outside, you could mistake it for a gas Civic if you miss the 'hybrid' emblem on the rear and the different wheels." -- USA Today
- "When the latest-generation Civic first hit the market, many were surprised by its unusual styling, but the Civic's looks have proven a hit with buyers and for 2009 Honda decided not to mess with success." -- Motor Trend
- "Sharing its new front face with the rest of the Civic line, the 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid is less distinguishable than last year's model. Still, it's not hard to spot the Civic Hybrid thanks to its aerodynamic disc-type wheels, side mirrors with integrated turn indicators (the only Civic to offer this feature), a mild trunk spoiler, small roof-mounted antenna and hybrid badging." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "Not surprisingly, the Civic redo is on the conservative side...there is no need to mess with a car that recently replaced the Accord as the bestselling car in Honda's lineup." -- Car and Driver
- "Its cab-forward design pushes the passenger compartment as far to the front of the vehicle as possible. The design features bold front-end styling with a steeply raked windshield and sweeping roofline." -- Forbes
