2014 Honda Civic Video Transcript
Experts like the interior of the 2014 Honda Civic for its wealth of standard features. But how is its power and handling? I am Jim Sharifi with US News Best Cars. In this video we will take a closer look at what professional reviewers say about the 2014 Civic's performance.
The Honda Civic comes standard with a 1.8L 143 horsepower 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Test drivers note that acceleration is brisk from a stop and the standard manual transmission has a precise shifter and smooth clutch action. The 2014 Civic is also available with a continuously variable transmission or CVT which reviewers say is smooth and refined and what's well with the Civic's engine. Equipped with the CVT, the Civic delivers an EPA estimated 30 miles per gallon in the city and 39 on the highway which is quite good for the class, although it won't be mistaken for a sports car.
Test drivers say that the 2014 Civic handles adequately with minimal body roll, still the Civic is biased more towards comfort and critic say it absorbs bumps in the road with ease. Test drivers also like the strong brakes for their good paddle feel.
A few experts say that the steering is numb and overly light, but others think that the Civic offers accurate, well-weighted steering.
