Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Civic has a sleek, uniform design that isn't particularly eye-catching. Reviewers don't dislike the exterior styling, but they also don't have much praise for it. That said, it's a best-selling model, so Honda probably feels no need to mess with a winning formula.

  • "Some of us actually prefer this subtlety, especially when we're driving in a way that might interest local law enforcement. However, we can't imagine many typical import buyers (young, male, desperately wanting attention) choosing restrained and quiet over voluptuous and expensive-looking." -- Automobile Magazine
  • "Save for a lower body character line, drawn slightly higher on the coupe than on the sedan, the sides of the Civic are more slab than sensuous. Understated fender blisters, more pronounced on the coupe, break up the otherwise featureless expanse. What excitement there is in the side view is in the sleekness of what Honda calls a monoform design." -- New Car Test Drive
  • "Not surprisingly, the Civic...is on the conservative side...there is no need to mess with a car that recently replaced the Accord as the bestselling car in Honda's lineup." -- Car and Driver
