Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The federal government gives the 2010 Pilot top five-star scores for all seating positions in both frontal and side crash tests. The insurance industry gives it top scores of "Good" in front, side and rear crash protection tests. The Pilot offers a competitive list of standard safety equipment.
- "Stability control, active head rests, tire-pressure monitoring system and front and side curtain airbags all are standard on the new Pilot. Honda also has developed a pedestrian safety system that includes a special crumpling hood, energy-absorbing fenders and wipers that deform easily upon impact." -- Detroit News
- "Models without navigation but with a backup camera display what's behind on a small screen on the inside rearview mirror. Never did seem as intuitive as the big-screen backup image. One moment it appeared there was plenty of room to back up, the next ... yow, how'd that car get so close? Better than no rearview display, but inferior to the big fella." -- USA Today
- "Pilot boasts four LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tether for CHildren) positions, three in the second row and one in the third row (most midsize SUVs have only two). Though having four car seats in the vehicle at one time is probably unlikely for most families, the extra LATCH positions nevertheless provide more passenger and cargo versatility." -- Consumer Guide
