2007 Hyundai Accent Interior

These scores and this review are from when the car was new.

Review Last Updated: 5/2/08

Stepping inside the 2007 Hyundai Accent, drivers are impressed with front seat room and intuitive controls, but some complain about interior materials that Kelley Blue Book finds "[g]enerally inexpensive" feeling.

Seating

The 2007 Hyundai Accent has a 98.4-inch wheel base and is 159.3 inches long, 66.7 inches wide, and 57.9 inches tall, all of which provide a fairly spacious vehicle for its class, reviewers say. For About.com, this was even true in the three-door hatchback. The reviewer recollects how easy getting to the backseat was, writing, "The spring-loaded front passenger seat folds up and out of the way to that a full size adult can just step in and assume one of the comfortable seats." But most back seat occupants tell a different story. Edmunds offers "sincere apologies" to back seat passengers, and the Sacramento Bee warns that "two fairly normal-size human beings are also likely to squirm after an hour in the confined space."

Edmunds says that "views from the front seats were very nice," thanks to the raising of the 2007 Hyundai Accent's driver seat by two inches, but worries about the driver's overall comfort. "While there's ample space in the driver seat, it only feels that way when you're alone." Kelley Blue Book adds to that concern, griping that "despite its eight manual adjustments, the driver's seat did not provide a really comfortable position."

Interior Features

About.com reviewer likes the utility of the 2007 Hyundai Accent's instruments, saying the dashboard "speaks of quality with its curvaceous, two-tone effect, while instruments and controls are nicely laid out. I especially liked the vertical stacking of (from top) clock, radio, storage, climate controls, more storage. All within easy reach and operable without taking one's eyes off the road."

However, not all auto writers find the interior features user friendly. As MSN writes, "the glove compartment won't hold much more than a pair of gloves and the owner's manual." Later on, the same review states, "front cupholders are set a bit too low and rather far back on the console."

Standard features on the 2007 Hyundai Accent include eight-way adjustable driver seats with dual height adjustment, a folding armrest for the driver's seat, adjustable head restraints for all seating positions and rear center folding armrests with cupholders in the GLS models. The rear seat is a 60/40 split fold-down. GLS and SE models receive air conditioning standard.

Stereo and Entertainment

Automobile.com notes the 2007 Hyundai Accent's standard stereo is "pretty decent," but grumbles, "where's the auxiliary plug-in for my iPod? And why doesn't it have satellite radio? Hyundai put its audio money into a fancy EQ system instead, with presets for rock, classical, jazz and pop." The GLS and SE models receive a 172-watt AM/FM/CD audio player with six speakers, but drivers can purchase a Sun and Sound Package that will include a 220-watt audio system. Additional optional features include a Kenwood iPod adapter or Kenwood MP3 player, and a subwoofer.

Cargo

Reviewers express pleasure at the room for storage. As the Chicago Tribune reports, "Cargo room behind the seat is more than ample. A parcel shelf strapped to the hatchlid hides whatever is stowed beneath. Need more room? The second-row seat bottoms slip forward and lift up against the front seats and then the backs fold flat." The About.com writer also enjoys the room for cargo, and shares an anecdote of picking up two friends "and their several enormous pieces of luggage with no sweat. The larger part of the rear seatback folded forward in one motion. No need even to remove the headrests. Then after I raised the hatch and tossed in the bags." Cargo space in the Accent sedan totals 12.4 cubic feet, and equals 15.9 cubic feet in the hatchback.
