Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 Azera trails the class leaders somewhat in safety. The government gave the Azera four out of five stars in frontal-impact crash tests and five out of five stars in side-impact crash testing for the front seat and four out of five stars for the rear seat. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety saw similar results, giving the car a top score of "Good" for passenger protection in frontal offset crashes and "Acceptable" in side-impact testing.

Every Azera is equipped with Electronic Stability Control, which helps keep the vehicle on its intended course. Electronic Stability Control also includes a Traction Control System, reducing wheel spin on slippery surfaces. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and active head restraints are standard.

The Azera is equipped with two advanced front air bags, two front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, two roof-mounted curtain side-impact air bags and two rear seat-mounted side-impact air bags (which dealers can turn off for those who have child safety seats).
