Reliability
The 2009 Hyundai Elantra reliability score of 9.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. Hyundai has one of the lengthiest basic warranties for its Elantra -- five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The 2009 Elantra's powertrain warranty is good for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
However, there have been some mechanical issues with last year's Elantra. Potential buyers should note that several 2008 models with the 2.0-liter engine were recalled due to a faulty fuel pump motor, which could cause poor engine starting and hesitation.
