Hyundai Entourage - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 Hyundai Entourage ranks 3 out of 8 Minivans. This ranking is based on our analysis of 31 published reviews and test drives of the Hyundai Entourage, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

The 2009 Entourage delivers a nice blend of safety, seven-passenger seating, and value for its class. However, 2009 marks the last model year for the Entourage, so if you want one, you should act fast.

For the most part, critics find the 2009 Hyundai Entourage to be well-equipped minivan with a smooth and comfortable ride. Motor Trend says, "Hyundai's first-ever minivan (essentially a twin to the Kia Sedona) was designed with the hope of overtaking the Honda Odyssey as the industry standard. With 250 horsepower, a bevy of standard safety equipment, and a roomy interior, it comes close." And the affordable sticker price doesn't hurt either. Still, some note that the Entourage has less cargo room than its rivals and feel that the third row could be more accommodating for adults.

The Entourage gets a high praise for its award-wining safety and its strong value proposition. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the highly similar 2008 model a "Top Safety Pick" for its wise array of standard features and its scores in crash tests.

For those wary of purchasing a new automobile in the current economic climate, Hyundai has introduced the Hyundai Assurance Program which would allow consumers to walk away from financing obligations "when certain adverse life events occur" such as loss of employment. You can read more about it here.

The Entourage comes in two trims -- the GLS base model and the top-of-the-line Limited. The 2009 Entourage is a carryover from 2008. Hyundai has announced that the Entourage will not continue into 2010, so if you like its blend of practicality and value, you need to buy one soon.

  • "Entourage and the similar Kia Sedona earn our Recommended nod for their size, utility, and standard safety features. Warranty coverage is impressive, and they beat every comparably equipped rival on price." -- Consumer Guide
  • "Entourage isn't flashy, just a fine van at a good price. Give it a look."-Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • "Hyundai's van receives a collection of Entourage-exclusive components and build techniques making it the more affluent cousin to the highly praised Sedona."-Automobile.com
  • "I discovered that you can spend more money on another minivan, but you won't buy a better one than the Hyundai Entourage."-About.com
  • "It's a minivan whose features go head to head against the top competitors, yet the price is less, a Hyundai hallmark."-Fort Worth Star-Telegram
