Used Car: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Review

Review Last Updated: 7/25/12

Most reviewers agreed that the 2010 Hyundai Genesis is one of the best luxury sedans you can buy, with excellent performance, safety and reliability ratings, as well as a comfortable interior. When it was new, the 2010 Genesis was also named our 2010 Best Upscale Sedan for the Money.

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis is ranked:

Even though Hyundai is known for crafting economy vehicles, the automotive press praised the 2010 Hyundai Genesis for being a well-rounded luxury car that competes with cars from high-status brands. The rear-wheel drive Genesis is available with a V6 or V8 engine, and when it was new, reviewers found both to be plenty powerful. The V6-powered Genesis gets 18/27 mpg city/highway, which is about average for the class. However, test drivers thought that the Genesis wasn’t quite as strong as top-performing rivals, like the 2010 BMW 5-Series. The Genesis has unbeatable safety scores and a high reliability rating, however.

When it was new, reviewers praised the Genesis for its high-quality interior, which features a luxurious design and spacious accommodations. Test drivers felt that the Genesis had comfortable seats, but the seats may be softer than some sport sedan drivers are used to. The rear seats can comfortably fit two adults and provide plenty of legroom, even for taller people.

The base Genesis comes with a long list of standard features, which include heated power front seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, Bluetooth, satellite radio and a USB port. Features like navigation, a backup camera, sunroof and an upgraded stereo were bundled into option packages when the Genesis was new.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Acura RL is a solid choice because of its high-quality cabin electronics, excellent safety scores and solid reliability rating. The Genesis offers better performance and fuel economy, however the RL has standard all-wheel drive, which you can’t get at all on the Genesis.

If you’re looking for a luxurious car with good performance, the 2010 Lexus GS is worth checking out. The GS is a solid large luxury sedan that offers a comfortable ride with decent handling. The Genesis has a more comfortable and spacious interior, though the GS gets slightly better fuel economy and has available all-wheel drive.
