Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

Not all praise the 2008 Jaguar X-Type Wagon's looks, but most agree it's a more attractive vehicle than the sedan version. "The X-Type Sportwagon wears the Jaguar styling better than its sedan sibling," says Road and Track. MSN writes the wagon "actually looks better than the X-Type sedan because it's bigger and its elongated roof gives it more flowing, elegant styling typical of Jaguar." Almost all of the changes in the sedan version are in the rear of the vehicle. "The car is virtually identical to the sedan from the nose to the rear doors," says the Los Angeles Times. "The rising shoulder line, blacked out roof pillars and bowed roofline all help visually lower the car's rear quarter for a rakish effect. In terms of curb presentation, it's no contest: The Sportwagon is a far handsomer car than its sedan counterpart." Not everyone is sold on the X-Type Wagon's appearance, though. The Arizona Republic not only writes that it could be better looking, but notes, "If the look were more striking, perhaps more people would accept the notion of Jaguar producing a station wagon." And the Chicago Tribune offers the unkindest cut of all: "If it weren't for the chrome Jaguar Leaper hood ornament," it notes, "you'd swear it was a Buick."
