Safety - What the Auto Press Says
Neither of the two major auto safety testing agencies in the U.S. -- the federal government and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety -- has crash tested the 2010 XF.
The XF includes an extensive suite of safety equipment. Front, side and full-length head curtain air bags are standard, as are anti-whiplash head restraints. Electronic Stability Control and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are included as well. The Supercharged model includes a blind spot monitor, and some reviews say you'll need it. Several testers found rear and rear-side visibility limited.
- "Safety features include...a pedestrian-sensing bonnet (that's hood in British speak) that automatically lifts in the unfortunate event of contact, in order to ‘trampoline' the victim away from the windshield." -- Popular Mechanics
