Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government has never crash-tested the current generation of the Jaguar XJ, nor has the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.  There is nothing ominous about that -- neither agency routinely tests super-luxury cars.

The 2009 XJ includes a full suite of modern safety features. Front, side and side-head-curtain airbags are standard, and are controlled through an "Adaptive Restraint System," which determines the size and position of each occupant and attempts to deploy the airbags in the way that will most thoroughly protect all passengers.

Four-wheel antilock disk brakes are standard, as is stability control.
