Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Critics call the XK's exterior design "classic" and "muscular," but stop short of declaring it beautiful.
- "With classic long-hood, short deck sporting proportions, large fender-filling wheels and minimal overhangs, the new XK is more aggressive than the previous model and seeks to recapture some essence of the legendary E-Type sports cars of the 1960s and 1970s." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "What makes the XK a looker, in my opinion, is its muscular haunches. In a strange regression, Jaguar mars those lines with a powered telescoping whip antenna, which is all but extinct in modern cars. On the upside, its operation is almost silent, and the whip remains the most effective antenna if you care about FM reception." -- Cars.com
- "At the rear haunches, its hottest point, the XK reminds us of the Aston Martin DB9, one of the prettiest cars we know. We love the shape of the rear hatch in the coupe, and the gills on the side tickle us, but the front of the car is so impossibly corporate, the grille so eerily reminiscent of the face of the Ford Taurus." -- Automobile Magazine
- "The convertible's soft top does an excellent job of noise insulation when up, and it disappears underneath a hard tonneau cover in only 18 seconds with the push of a button." -- Edmunds
- "Rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz SL and Cadillac XLR offer the security of a power metal retractable roof, but the XK convertible's fabric top is well insulated and consumes less cargo room when folded." -- Consumer Guide
