Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Neither the federal government nor insurance industry has crash tested the 2010 XK. In fact, most cars at this price-point don't get tested. However, it features a long list of assuring safety equipment -- including front dual-stage chest airbags and seat-mounted side airbags. The XK convertible also features a roll-over protection system, which deploys aluminum roll bars when an imminent rollover is detected.

  • "A world first, Jaguar's new Pedestrian Contact Sensing is a deployable bonnet that helps soften the severity of impact injuries between pedestrians and car. If triggered, the bonnet automatically releases upward by a few inches which makes more space, consequently protecting the pedestrian from the engine. A front bumper sensing system is in place to discriminate pedestrian accidents from front-end collisions." -- Road & Travel Magazine
  • "The XK's rear parking meter is one of the most advanced we have used. Rather than indicating proximity from an obstacle by a series of beeps, the radar-based system actually displays a visual representation of an object by showing its distance from the rear bumper and its relative lateral position (left/right center/left center/left) to the car." -- CNET
  • "Another novel feature is Automatic Speed Limiter, activated via a button on the center console. Setting a speed with the cruise control and pressing the button prevents the car from exceeding the speed. I've seen features that alert drivers when they exceed a preset speed, but never one that's an actual speed limiter. Not the worst solution I've seen for leadfooted drivers." -- Cars.com
