Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the 2009 Commander five stars for both the driver and passenger protection in frontal crash tests. The administration has not yet conducted side crash tests on the Commander. The four-wheel-drive Commander gets a rollover rating of just three out of five stars.

The Commander offers safety features such as traction control, advanced anti-lock brakes and Electronic Roll Mitigation.  The Commander has advanced multistage air bags and special cradle bars that help minimize rear impact upon collision with another vehicle.
