Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government gives the 2010 Patriot a score of four stars for driver safety and a top score of five stars for passenger safety in frontal crash tests. In side crash tests, it gets five stars for both front- and rear-seat safety. Plus, it gets a four-star rollover score, which is on par with other SUVs. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet tested the 2010 Patriot, but gave the 2009 model a score of "Good" in frontal offset tests. However, in side impact tests, models without the optional side impact air bags got a much worse score of "Marginal" (while those with the air bags received a "Good"). In rear crash protection tests, the Patriot received a score of "Acceptable." Though that's not a top score, it's better than what many of Jeep's other models scored in this test.

Among the Jeep Patriot's safety features which come standard are: advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental side curtain front and rear airbags, electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, and anti-lock brakes. Supplemental front seat-mounted side airbags are optional for $250.
