Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

Since its creation as a low-cost, expendable troop transport vehicle for World War II, the Jeep Wrangler's appearance has remained largely unchanged. Aside from its classic boxy styling and removable doors, the Wrangler's other unique feature is its convertible top. All Wranglers come standard with a folding soft top, which is improved and easier to remove for 2010. A Freedom Top three-piece modular hardtop is optional for $1,625. Reviewers largely prefer it because they say soft-top models suffer from substantial road noise.

  • "Our test vehicle came with a soft-top and the subsequent array of zippers required to remove it. That zip-off roof is probably the feature that most clearly says "Wrangler"; thanks to consistent rain, I never had a chance to drop the top, but it's the same multi-step process Wrangler devotees are used to." -- Cars.com
  • "The rugged, two-door Jeep Wrangler looks like it just stepped off a modern battlefield, while the Wrangler Unlimited is the market's only available 4-door convertible. The Unlimited is the roomiest, most comfortable Wrangler ever, but lacks some of the tough appearance of the 2-door version." -- MSN
