Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2010 Kia Soul does well in government crash tests. It earned five out of a possible five stars for frontal crashes, and five out of a possible five for the driver's protection in side crashes. The Soul also earned four out of five stars for passengers' protection in side crashes, and a four-star rollover rating. The hatchback has does not have safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety yet. Regardless, with plenty of safety features for its price range, it's well on its way to being regarded as a very safe vehicle.
- "The Soul packs just about every electronic safety system you could think of, including ABS, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It also features dual front airbags, side airbags for the front seat passengers, active headrests on the front seats and full-length side-curtain airbags." -- Motor Trend
- "As it is, the Soul doesn't feel anything remotely like a bargain basement ride. I was shocked as I slithered up my snowy driveway to feel stability control at work; I had never imagined that it would be available." -- Automobile Magazine
- "Thanks to the higher seating position and large greenhouse, overall visibility is excellent. Rear visibility is decent even through the smallish rear glass, and the large side mirrors are eminently functional." -- Edmunds
- "Major kudos goes to Kia for making every safety feature it offers on the Soul standard across the range, from base 1.6-liter cars on up to loaded 2.0-liter Sport models like our $18,345 tester. .... By comparison, some of the Soul's rivals resort to cheaper drum brakes in lower-line models, as well as making certain safety features optional." -- Autoblog
