The 2009 Kia Spectra5 does well in federal government crash tests, and provides a lengthy list of either standard or optional safety equipment.

Crash Tests

  • In federal government crash tests, the 2009 Spectra5 earned five out of five stars for the driver and front passenger's protection in front-impact crashes, and four out of five stars for the driver and rear passengers' protection in side-impact tests.

Safety Features

The Spectra5's list of safety features is robust. But like its sister sedan, it doesn't provide standard anti-lock brakes. Dual front and seat-mounted side air bags and full-length side curtain air bags are standard, and the hatch is fortified with front and rear crumple zones, side impact door beams, and an energy-absorbing steering column.
